True prophets care not about money, though they do care for the substance and sustenance of God's people. Very rarely will you see a real prophet of God raise an offering or ask for a certain seed offering in order that God would bless you or do something for you. It goes directly against the purpose of the prophet. The purpose of the prophet is to assist in the turning of the hearts of the people back towards God. How can the prophet do this if the people are always looking to seed offerings, money, and material goods for satisfaction and in exchange for what they need or hope to gain from God or from the earth realm. Prophets teach, warn, admonish, judge, build, and tear down on all levels in the spirit realm and on the physical fronts. Prophets walk in the super natural and they impart the supernatural. Relying on money to release the supernatural is using the methods of Simon the Sorcerer who tried to buy the gift of God.
The prophet is supposed to be prayed up, oft in fastings, oft in prayer, and walking in the boldness and revelation of God. People who call themselves prophets who are not submitted to leadership, not just someone who they call their covering - stay away from. This rule does not apply to every prophet as there are some prophets who are on their own who have been discipled and are sent out to the mission field and have started their own ministries, but you will be able to tell them. Their messages are not full of personal testimonies of what God has done through them, and the messages are not full of hype, emotionalism, and hype. Their messages would be heavy, convicting, revelatory, and to the point. Prophetic messages are able to speak to every level and area of your life. Prophets are called to speak to nations, kings, queens, political institutions, governments, principalities, shamans, witches, warlocks, and demonic strongholds. It, therefore, is not the chief purpose of the prophet to tell you what your phone number is, who you will marry, or how much money you will make. The word of the Lord through the Prophet comes to judge, build, comfort, warn, rebuke, cast down, raise up, perform the miraculous and decree the future.
A prophet usually is called by another prophet, or recognized in part by a prophet who is operating as a prophet. Your anointing and power in the office of the prophet can be compared to the anointing of the prophet who recognized the call on your life by way of impartation and prophetic utterance - not just ordination.
There is a distinct difference between the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge concerning the prophetic operation. A lot of people who are called prophets today, are just people who operate in a gift of the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge. They pass as prophets to greed, a lack of integrity, and also in part to the destitution of some in the body who are not able to discern the spirit of God from the spirit of Satan or the Human Spirit.
Being a prophet is a gifting that is very serious and should not be taken lightly as there are many who claim the gift. Know, that as the time gets nearer, the demand on the prophetic anointing is increasing, persecution will get more bold and stronger, and many more false prophets will arise. Save yourself from this untoward generation.
